With an average 25% increase in muscle and an average 30% reduction in fat, it’s not surprising that our Emsculpt Neo clinic is very busy. We answer many questions about this non-invasive body treatment each week and, no doubt, if our clients are asking it, you may be wondering about it so… here are the top 10 questions we’re asked during consultations with Emsculpt Neo before and after treatment.
Questions About Emsculpt Before And After Treatment:
Is Emsculpt Neo better than Coolsculpting?
Emsculpt Neo and Coolsculpt are not like-for-like treatments; they do different things, although they are both ‘body shaping’ treatments. Coolsculpting uses cryolipolysis (fat freezing) to target fat cells and destroy them. Emsculpt Neo not only targets the fat cells and destroys them using radio frequency, but it also uses HIFEM technology to build muscle.
If you are seeking a treatment that both tones muscle and removes fat, Emsculpt Neo is going to be a better option than Coolsculpt.
Is Emsculpt Neo Permanent?
We will review you 3 months after you finish your course because it’s been shown that at this the muscle mass increase peaks, with a 26.1% thickening and at this time the fat reduction peaked too showing a 30.8% reduction; a 6-month review showed maintenance of these outcomes. This study also shows maintenance of these results 6 months post course, which is where the study ends. However, there is naturally the question of maintenance beyond this time…
I describe this in the same way as I do an anti-ageing treatment; we are not stopping the natural ageing process with this treatment. We are getting you into a much better condition than when you first came into the clinic, but it does not stop natural ageing processes such as muscle decline, nor does it prevent fat cells from becoming larger if you put on weight.
It is up to you to help maintain your results. So theoretically, if you’re someone who is in their 30s and goes to the gym and maintains their weight, continuing this lifestyle may mean that you don’t want any maintenance treatments until you reach menopause and experience a change in your body due to unbalanced hormones. However, if you can’t or don’t have time to work out you might decide to have further treatments. Equally, if you become pregnant, expect your body to change.
Maintenance is totally led by you. If for example you notice changes a year or two down the line and you want to boost your results again you can either do so by working out or by having more treatment.
What to Expect After Emsculpt Neo?
Ordinarily, if you could do the equivalent workout to the Emsculpt Neo yourself, which you can’t because you can only engage 35% of your muscle fibres when you exercise, whereas Emsculpt Neo engages 100% of the muscle fibre, you’d be extremely uncomfortable the next day. In fact, our trainer told us that you probably wouldn’t be able to walk if you had leg treatment!
One of the reasons why we love Emsculpt Neo is that it has a built-in cycle which allows your blood to be flushed through your treated muscles, removing the build-up of lactic acid, which is what causes us discomfort the day after an intense workout. You may feel a little achy in the area the next day after a treatment, you may not, but if you do feel anything it is not relative to the 20,000 muscle contractions you did in your treatment session.
In fact, the recovery aspect of this treatment means that you can still do your regular workouts, if you do them, during your course of treatment.
Where Can You Use Emsculpt Neo?
The areas you can treat with Emsculpt Neo are the abdomen; buttocks; inner, outer, front and back of the thighs; biceps; triceps; and calves.
After I Had a Baby, My Stomach Has Never Been the Same. Can Emsculpt Neo Help Me?
The abdomen is possibly the most popular treatment area for mums because many report that they’ve lost strength in their core, they have stubborn pockets of fat in the area they find hard to shift, and some have an abdominal separation of the muscles.
Emsculpt Neo is often ideal because it can help improve abdominal separation of the muscles safely as well as aesthetically improve the area with fat removal and muscle toning.
As a parent, time’s always short so Emsculpt Neo suits most of us because it only requires a 30-minute treatment, once a week, for the duration of your course.
Additionally, some mums who are interested in Emsculpt Neo also discuss the Emsella treatment with us to help with the tone of their pelvic floor muscles… If you know, you know. Many clients have both Emsculpt Neo and Emsella, in a combination we like to call Core to the Floor.
What Does Emsuclpt Neo Do?
It’s the first of its kind, in non-invasive body shaping. It’s the first and only technology that uses RF and HIFEM+ (high-intensity electromagnetic field) to eliminate fat and build muscle non-invasively.
Can Emsculpt Neo be Used On Thighs?
Yes. This is a popular treatment with both me and women.
Three things we frequently get asked about the Emsculpt thighs- before and after treatment- are… where on the thighs can I have treatment? Will it be ok to walk/drive/exercise afterwards? Is this going to hurt tomorrow?
So, to answer this, you can have the treatment on all aspects of your thigh; inner, front, back and sides. You will be able to do your normal activities the next day. You may not feel anything in the treatment area, or it may feel like you’ve had a workout, but it will not feel like you have done 20,000 lunges or squats (although essentially you have).
How Long for Emsculpt Neo Results?
3 months after you finish your course it’s been shown that the peak of the results, so this is when we suggest you can see full results. However, most people see positive changes in the lead up to this point; their strength improves, how their clothes feel, and how they look from an aesthetic point of view.
Does Emsculpt Neo Really Work?
Yes, there are clinical studies to back this up. In fact, since the technology was launched in 2018, HIFEM has had the most clinical studies on it than any other body sculpting device to date. It has been shown to build muscle by an average of 25% and reduce fat by an average of 30%.
Is Emsculpt Neo Worth It?
Before I answer this question, I’d like to make clear… this treatment is not a replacement for exercise and diet. It will not provide you with the cardiovascular benefits that some exercises do and a healthy, balanced diet is essential for many reasons, including nutritionally and for maintaining weight. It is also not a weight-loss treatment.
If you embarked on a strict training and eating regime you could theoretically achieve similar results as this treatment course; in fact, the scientists behind this treatment have likened it to 12-16 weeks of HIIT training in the areas you have treated, without the cardio benefits to your heart and lungs of course. So, if you already work out this is an accelerator for both your muscle strength and aesthetic appearance.
However, you do not have to be fit or a gym bunny to benefit from the treatment, in fact, you can have a BMI of up to 35 to have this treatment. And it is a fantastic tool to help rebuild your strength after an injury; Emsculpt Neo was originally designed with physiotherapy in mind.
I think that one of the main things that people love about the treatment is the fact that they can have a quick 30-minute treatment, once a week, for the duration of their course and are in and out of the clinic without having to shower, pack their workout clothes and all the other considerations of going to the gym.
Emsculpt Neo allows you to target specific areas of the body to tone muscle and remove fat at the same time, achieving an average of 25% increase in muscle and a 30% loss in fat in your treated areas, with no recovery time. So, for the right candidates, I believe it’s worth it. However, it is for you to decide on your individual circumstances.
If you aren’t sure if Emsculpt Neo is the best choice for you it may be worth discussing the treatment during a consultation; if Emsculpt Neo isn’t the best treatment option for you, it may be that one of our other clinically proven body shaping treatments are appropriate for you to consider and we’ll discuss that with you at the time.
Nurse Jane Lewis, Skin to Love MD comments that: “We love talking to our clients about Emsculpt Neo and answering any questions that they have about Emsculpt before and after treatment; we always start their journey with a consultation so that we can discuss what the best treatment for them may be and we offer a review service for our clients so we can track their progress and answer any questions that have inevitably arisen. Emsculpt Neo has been an incredibly popular treatment amongst our clients and, dare I say, our team!”
