Your medical practitioner will take a sample of your blood and processes it in a medical device called a Centrifuge to isolate the platelets found within you blood. When reintroduced to your skin, either by a number of tiny injections or during another treatment, your platelets release growth factors in the treated skin; growth factors are molecules which tell the skin to start the natural regeneration process.
Indications that PRP may be right for you:
You would like to improve the thickness and texture of your skin.
You would like to improve the tone and elasticity of your skin.
You would like to improve a dull skin tone.
You would like to improve the appearance of scarring.
You would like to improve the appearance of stretch marks.
You would like to improve the brightness under your eyes.
You would like to soften some signs of ageing, such as wrinkles.
You like how your skin currently looks and want to help maintain its look and feel.
You already have, or plan to begin, a skin care regimen to help protect against signs on ageing
You are already having cosmetic treatments, such as Fraxel Dual or Derma FNS, and want to further enhance your results and speed up any recovery time.
You don’t have the time or desire for more invasive procedures such as ablative laser resurfacing.
Will I need to take time off work after having the Platelet Rich Plasma treatment?
Possibly depending on the method used to reintroduce your PRP to your skin, for example, the Fraxel Dual treatment may require a few days downtime. However, it is in the PRP’s nature to speed up your recovery so it may actually reduce any expected recovery time associated with another treatment.
Is there anything I need to do before the PRP treatment?
One of the main requirements when drawing blood for both medical and cosmetic purposes is for you to be hydrated in the 24 hours leading up to your treatment. We also suggest that you drink a litre of water or squash an hour before treatment.
Being dehydrated may result in your practitioner being unable to draw your blood and therefore you may need to postpone your treatment.
Are there any side effects to the PRP treatment?
PRP has an anti-inflammatory effect and is bactericidal (kills germs) so side effects from the PRP treatment are unlikely. Your practitioner will discuss any possible side effects, questions you may have and any aftercare you should adhere to prior to your treatment.
What treatments can I have in combination with the PRP treatment?
PRP can be had as a stand-alone treatment during which your PRP will be reintroduced to your skin by small injections. PRP can also be reintroduced to your skin during the micro needling treatment, Derma FNS, as well as after some laser treatments including Fraxel and Clear + Brilliant.
I’m looking for a dramatic correction for my signs of ageing, is PRP right for me?
During your consultation, we will give you specific advice, however, this treatment can help to correct crepey skin, wrinkles and other advanced signs of skin ageing. It is not a substitute for surgical treatments.
PRP can be used in combination with and alongside other treatments for skin rejuvenation should you need or desire, such as Fraxel Dual, Byonik, Thermage CPT and the Thread Lift.
You may need more than one treatment to achieve your results. You and your practitioner will create a treatment plan which may include using this treatment alongside other treatments.
Am I too young to have a PRP treatment?
PRP can be considered by those in their 20s and 30s as a preventative treatment and to maintain and improve healthy skin. Those who have dull skin and/or those who have had lots of sun exposure may find this treatment beneficial also.
There may be alternative treatments that may be suitable for you depending on your concerns and skin condition and this will be discussed during your consultation.
From £350.
We offer a bespoke approach to treatment, tailored entirely to your needs and desires, therefore the cost of your individual treatment will be confirmed during your consultation following a thorough assessment.
My skin has been an issue for me and my confidence for years. I’ve been to GP after GP and not only did they not sort the issue but they didn’t understand the emotional side of acne and scarring, not one little bit. After coming to The Skin To Love Clinic I was absolutely blown away by their empathy and also the knowledge of your skin and incredible products. – Emma
I was well-informed pre-treatment, followed by great care and consideration throughout. Great experience all round. I always feel in safe hands at the Skin to Love Clinic. Each step of treatment explained and carried out effectively. The nurse was considerate and very knowledgeable. The advice also given on post-care do’s and dont’s. – Lara
Excellent professional and personal service. – Jane
Very warm & lovely service as usual. – Nusrat
